Column Function in Excel

In Microsoft Excel, the COLUMNS function returns the number of columns in a given reference. The reference can be a range of cells, an array, or a single cell.
Syntax: COLUMNS(array)
Where,
array – The array or range of cells for which you want to count the number of columns.
For example, if the formula =COLUMNS(A1:C4) is entered in a cell, the function will return the number of columns in the range A1:C4 which is 3.
It could be used in combination with other functions or formulas to create dynamic ranges, to make calculations based on the number of columns in a table, managing the data in tables, creating dynamic charts and so on.
